The Cooperstown boys basketball state championship team made a special appearance on Fox & Friends on Fox News Channel Tuesday morning.

Fox News host Steve Doocy visited the village of Cooperstown and spoke with Mayor Ellen Tillapaugh and other local residents as part of the program’s “Main Street, U.S.A.” series, which highlighted Cooperstown as “America’s Most Perfect Village.”

Doocy showcased Cooperstown’s unique charm, including the town’s baseball memorabilia, Main Street renovations, local apple pie and our very own state champion basketball team.

The Hawkeye boys were transported to the Doubleday Cafe, which generously picked up the team’s tab for breakfast ahead of their live shot with Doocy in front of the restaurant just before 9 a.m.

“It’s more of a basketball town than a baseball town,” Cooperstown senior Miles Nelen, recently named New York State Class-C Player of the Year, told Doocy during the segment.

Doocy also spoke with Coach John Lambert, who reflected on leading the Hawkeyes to a perfect 27-0 record this past season.
