A Cooperstown Tradition: 3rd Graders Shine at the Annual Track Meet

For 32 years, our 3rd grade students have participated in one of Cooperstown Elementary School’s most treasured traditions – the 3rd Grade Track Meet.

What began over three decades ago through the vision of PE teacher Connie Herzig has become a beloved celebration of teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship and school spirit. Originally known simply as the “3rd Grade Track Meet,” students proudly wore t-shirts from home as they competed and cheered one another on.

In 2016, our school community came together to rename the event in honor of beloved teacher Kathleen Galland-Bennett.

A huge thanks to Mrs. Herzig, the PE team and the 3rd Grade Team for making this happen year after year!

Here’s to 32 years of memories – and many more to come!
