CCS will host the annual Cooperstown TREP$ Marketplace on Sunday, February 9th at 1:00-3:00pm. CCS students grades 5 and older have been working hard to prepare their products for this year’s marketplace, which features bath and shower products, headbands, home decor items, pet products, beeswax food wraps - as well as many more products! TREP$ (short for enTREPreneur$) is a national project-based learning program based on entrepreneurship curriculum and designed for students in grades 4-8 who’d like to learn more about starting their own business. This extra-curricular enrichment program meets regularly at CCS and participants show off their work during the annual Cooperstown TREP$ Marketplace, which is open to the public and guests are invited to purchase products/services developed by students. Come out and support our CCS entrepreneurs!

Center State Conference Wrestling Championship at Bursey Gymnasium today starting at 9am.
Registration begins next week for CCS Girls on the Run (grades 3-5) as well as CCS Heart and Sole (grades 6-8). Girls on the Run is a character education based program in which students learn about setting and achieving goals while training for a 5k walk/run. Topics include; Being Healthy, Gossip, Being a Good Friend, Helping Others, and Serving Your Community. Girls will also design and implement a community action project. This year’s program will meet on Mondays and Thursdays, 3-4:15pm, March 16th through June 8th. The program will celebrate with a 5K fun run/walk at The Clark Sports Center on Sunday, June 7th. Families are welcome to participate in the 5K. Please register your daughter for Girls on the Run or Heart and Sole by using the following link, beginning February 1st. CCS Elementary students K-6 were treated today to a special performance in the Sterling Auditorium at CCS High School. Students enjoyed the CCS Middle School Musical, School House Rock Live! Jr., based on the ever-popular and award-winning 1970’s educational cartoon, teaching educational lessons with clever and catchy music. On Friday, our Cooperstown swim team took 3rd place at the Center State Conference Championships. The team won 5 events and finished second in 3 events. Congratulations to Coach Rock and all the swimmers.
The 2020 National Geographic GeoBee took place at CCS last week with 10 CCS students participating in the finals. CCS 5th grader Maddie Lukovsky claimed 1st Place in competition this year and will advance to the next level of the national GeoBee. In CCS competition, Brayden Sentz finished in 2nd place while Owen Nolan took 3rd place. Lukovsky will participate in a qualifying test to determine NY state competitors. Up to 100 of the top test scores in each state become eligible to compete in the state level GeoBee. Winners of each state GeoBee advance to a national competition. Over three decades, over 120 million students across the country have competed in the National Geographic GeoBee.

CCS Elementary School celebrates independent reading as students choose a book they enjoy, write a review and share it with the entire school during morning announcements. Last week, CCS 5th-Grader Luke Miosek shared his review of Lost Boy by Tim Green, nominating a kindergartener to share the next Mindful Reader Book Review with students and staff. Giving students choice in what they read helps them to develop their love of reading!

Attention CCS Class of 2021! CCS will offer an SAT Prep course on Wednesday evenings 6:30pm-9:00pm for 8 sessions including 2/12, 2/26, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/15, 4/22 and 4/29. Two additional dates have been built into the schedule for potential snow dates. All classes will be held on the CCS campus. The 2020 Edition of the College Board SAT Study Guide is included in the $145 fee. Checks should be written to the Cooperstown PTA. Payment is due upon arrival at the first class on February 12th. Interested CCS Class of 2021 students may sign up at the CCS Guidance office. Please contact the CCS Guidance Department ahead of time with questions regarding financial assistance.
