The 8th and 9th grade students participated in the local National History Day Contest on January 9, 2024. Under the leadership of history teachers Josie Rusk and John Brotherton, co-teacher Laura Bliss-Lamb, and librarian Michelle Hitchcock, the students completed the project for National History Day using the annual theme, "Turning Points in History," to guide their research.
The students also benefited from the collaboration between CCS and the Cooperstown Graduate Program through a grant from CFEE. The CGP students helped instruct the students on topic selection, primary versus secondary resource selection, and research throughout the project. This CCS and CGP collaboration will continue by helping those students who compete in the regional contest, which will be held March 16, 2024, at Milford Central School.
