Cooperstown, NY – The Cooperstown Central School District Board of Education approved Audrey Arment Dean of Students, Elementary School and Caitlin Dates, Dean of Students, Jr./Sr. High School Deans at its January 17, 2024 meeting.
The Deans of Students will work collaboratively with the Principal to support the general operations of the elementary and secondary schools. Through effective communication with members of the community, Ms. Arment and Ms. Dates will focus on administering student consequences in a fair and equitable manner with a focus on prevention; monitoring student attendance and working cooperatively with parents to reduce attendance barriers and coordinating all state mandated testing. As always, it is the District’s intent to ensure the psychological, social and emotional, and academic well-being of our students while providing the faculty and staff with the necessary tools to continually improve student outcomes
Ms. Arment is a resident of Cooperstown Central School district and has two students enrolled in our schools. She most recently served as a School Counselor for the Norwich Central School District. Ms. Arment has worked as a service coordinator, therapist, and school counselor. Additionally, she gained administrative experience as President of the Board for a cooperative school. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and a Master of Arts degree in counseling psychology from Boston College.
The thread woven throughout Audrey’s experience is a steadfast commitment to students’ psychological, social and emotional, and academic well-being. Audrey is passionate about cultivating a school climate of positivity and collaboration and is thrilled to work with CCSD in continuing the tradition of enthusiasm and excellence that sets Cooperstown apart from the rest.

Ms. Dates is from Delaware County, NY and has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Most recently Ms. Dates worked at ONC BOCES as a Professional Learning Specialist. While at ONC BOCES, Cait assisted teachers in curriculum implementation, analyzing data and making decisions based on data, and coaching teachers toward their own professional development.
Cait received her undergraduate degree from Keuka College and master's degree from SUNY Geneseo. She has certifications in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6), Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6), Mathematics (7-12), Reading & Literacy (Birth-Grade 6), Reading & Literacy (Grades 5-12).
“I am excited to begin my work in Cooperstown! In the days that I have been at Cooperstown as a Professional Learning Specialist, I have enjoyed getting to know the teachers and staff and am very much looking forward to continuing to build those relationships,” said Ms. Dates. “I am thrilled to be joining the Cooperstown community and have the opportunity to work with the district's students and staff!”
Ms. Spross and district leaders, including Principal Amy Malcuria and Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations Amy Kukenberger, will provide Ms. Arment and Ms. Dates with a thorough orientation. They will help them review policies and procedures, budgets, established events for the 2023-2024 school year, enduring district goals, and other important aspects of the school. Ms. Arment’s and Ms. Dates priority will be to get to know the students, teachers, and educational support staff.
