CCS Faculty and Staff can support this effort by dropping off new unwrapped toys to collection boxes located in the Faculty Rooms of each school building.
Deadline for donations is December 11th.

Let’s STUFF THE BUS!
Cooperstown Central School District invites the entire CCS K-12 district family, as well as CCS Faculty and Staff, to join in on a (VIRTUAL) contribution to Light Up Coop, a grassroots movement to encourage the greater Cooperstown community to light up for the holidays and spread good cheer. Let's connect with one another and with our community by sharing our contributions.
1. Light a candle or luminary, draw a candle, or make a candle out of recycled materials, or toys.
2. Take a good quality picture (jpg format).
3. Share the image with Library Media Specialist Emily Gibson at egibson@cooperstowncs.org.
Mrs. Gibson will take candle image contributions and make a collage to "light up" our virtual CCS world. Deadline for contributions is Wednesday, December 16th.

CCS Athletes are giving back to the Cooperstown community!
On December 2nd, 2020, members of CCS Leadership Training for Athletes collaborated with CCS Soles-to-Share and delivered new shoes to the Cooperstown Angel Network holiday family collections at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cooperstown. Some of the shoes were purchased using the CCS Soles-to-Share account, a shoe donation organization started by Cooperstown Alumnus, Christina Noto. Additional shoes were donated by CCS student athlete members of Leadership Training for Athletes. In total, over 25 pairs of shoes were donated to local families for the holidays. For questions, please contact CCS Physical Education Teacher Monica Wolfe at mwolfe@cooperstowncs.org. Way to go CCS Hawkeyes! Thank you for spreading holiday cheer!

If you ordered from the FRUIT SALE Fundraiser to benefit National Honor Society and CCS Music Department, please note that pick-up for orders will take place Tuesday, Dec. 8th - Friday, Dec. 11th, 2:30-4:00pm at the Jr./Sr. HS band room entrance behind the bus garage.
As winter approaches, and driving becomes more hazardous, please review some reminders about the CCS Parking Lot and Bus Circle.
-Speed limit in any school zone is 15 mph.
-All students being dropped off in the morning should exit their car at the Auditorium door located at the south side of the main parking lot. Students then walk from the drop-off point to the appropriate entrance. The gym entrance is designated for students in Grades 7-9 and the cafeteria entrance is designated for students in Grades 10-12. Only CCS Staff may enter the Auditorium door.
-All afternoon student pick-ups take place at the Auditorium door in the main parking lot.
-The bus circle is for buses only. Cars leaving the main parking lot must turn left only. No right turn is allowed at that location from 7:00-8:10am and 2:15-2:45pm.
-Please be considerate and attentive as you drive through the CCS campus. The Crossing Guards are there to keep everyone safe. There are many students and adults walking to and from their vehicles and the school buildings and they deserve every driver’s undivided attention and thoughtfulness.
-Don’t put others at risk, please completely clean your windshield of ice before driving.
-Please remember that passing a school bus with its RED lights flashing and STOP signs deployed, even in a parking lot, is against the law and endangers students loading or unloading the bus.

HIGH RISK WINTER SPORTS POSTPONED
Please see below the message from the NY State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) regarding the delay of starting high risk sports (volleyball/basketball/wrestling) until no sooner than 1/4/2021.
NYSPHSAA Postpones Start Date for High Risk Winter Sports
Low and moderate risk sports on schedule to begin November 30th
November 17, 2020 (Latham, NY) – The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has announced the start date for high risk winter sports (basketball, competitive cheer, ice hockey and wrestling) will be moved to January 4, 2021. Until authorization is granted by state officials, NYSPHSAA member schools are not permitted to participate in sports determined to be high risk by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH). Low and moderate risk winter sports will be permitted to begin on November 30th as previously determined by NYSPHSAA.
“The NYSPHSAA membership has expressed concerns pertaining to the increase in infection rates,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “Minimizing risk and exposure to COVID-19 is a top priority of the Association. We continue to make these types of decisions based upon readily available information and communication with state officials.”
Low and moderate risk winter sport practices (bowling, gymnastics, indoor track & field, skiing, and swimming & diving) are still on schedule to begin on November 30th for those schools and sections who have determined it feasible to host interscholastic athletics at that time. Regular season games/contests can begin for low and moderate risk winter sports once student-athletes have participated in the required number of practices as per NYSPHSAA bylaws.
“NYSPHSAA’s leadership recognizes the numerous challenges interscholastic programs are experiencing and the obstacles associated with resuming high risk sports,” said Julie Bergman, NYSPHSAA President. “While it is certainly the goal of the Association to provide all students with the ability to participate in interscholastic athletics we must remain steadfast in our decisions to ensure the safety of our athletes is our focus.”
At this time, all winter NYSPHSAA State Championship events remain as scheduled.
